Le Maqam E’chahid (Sanctuaire du Martyr) est le fameux mémorial d’Alger,qui rend hommage aux 2 millions de combattants de la guerre d’indépendance algérienne morts pour la libération du pays : les chahids.
Il a été érigé en 1982 à l’occasion du 20e anniversaire de l’indépendance de l’Algérie, et se distingue par des défis technologiques de taille pour l’époque et relevés brillamment par le groupe canadien LAVALIN, devenu par la suite l’un des leader mondiaux dans l’ingénierie construction.

The Maqam E’chahid – the Martyr’s sanctuary- is the renowned memorial of Algiers which pays a tribute to the 2 million soldiers of the Algerian War of Independence who died for the freedom of the country – the chahids.
This memorial was built on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Independence of Algeria. It stands out thanks to the serious technological challenges for the time which were successfully taken up by the Canadian company LAVALIN, which became later one of the world leaders in the building engineering.

مقام الشهيد هو ذاك النصب التذكاري الشهير الذي يكرم شهداء الثورة التحريرية المجيدة. بني هذا التذكار سنة 1982 بمناسبة إحياء الذكرى العشرون لإستقلال الجزائر.
يتألف الشكل الهندسي للنصب من ثلاثة أوراق نخيل تتحد في منتصف الارتفاع، و عند بداية كل ورقة نجد تمثال يرمز إلى حقبات حرب التحرير الوطنية. وهذا النصب تم صنعه من طرف الشركةالكندية لافالين، استنادا إلى نموذج منتج في مدرسة الفنون الجميلة في الجزائر العاصمة بقيادة الفنان الجزائري بشير يلس.
