Oran
Oran la Radieuse tient son nom de deux lions qui descendaient régulièrement de la Montagne des lions avoisinante et s’approchaient pernicieusement de la ville. Foncièrement tournée vers la mer, Oran a été surnommée par les romains Portus Divini (Port Divin) du fait de la présence du port et de Mers El Kebir qui apportaient prospérité et grandeur à la ville. Oran est également la ville la plus fortifiée du bassin méditerranéen avec de nombreux remparts et forts: le plus connu restant le Fort de Santa Cruz qui domine la ville.
Oran is called the Beaming city because of the two lions which used to go down the nearby Lions’ Mountain in order to dangerously get closer to the city. Because it is entirely facing the sea, Oran was nicknamed by the Roman – Portus Divini – divine harbor. Moreover, the existence of the harbor and Mers El Kebir brought a real prosperity and importance to the city. Oran is also the most fortified city of the Mediterranean basin with its numerous fortifications and forts, the most famous remains the Fort de Santa Cruz which towers over the city.
وهران، عاصمة الغرب الجزائري
وهران الباهية، تعود تسميتها نسبة إلى الأسود التي كانت تعيش في الجبل المجاور لها و المدعو « جبل الأسود’’.
تقع وهران في الطرف الغربي للضفة الجنوبية لحوض البحر الأبيض المتوسط على خليج وهران. أطلق الرومان عليها اسم الميناء الرباني Portus Divinis لاحتضانها الميناء و المرسى الكبير منبعا عظمتها و إِزْدِهَار.
وهران هي المدينة الأكثر تحصينا في حوض البحر الأبيض المتوسط. من أشهر هذه الحصون : حصن سانتا كروز Santa Cruz الذي يطل عليها و يعلوها،
